DRYWALL & PAINTING IN BRAMPTON
Smooth walls, flawless paint finishes, whether it is new construction, a renovation, or a standalone project.
CALL FOR A FREE ESTIMATEDrywall and painting are what tie a renovation together. You can have perfect tile, beautiful flooring, and solid framing, but if the walls look rough or the paint job is uneven, the whole project feels unfinished. Whether we are finishing a basement, wrapping up a bathroom reno, or repainting an entire house, the drywall and paint phase gets the same level of attention as every other trade.
Brampton homes built in the 1990s and 2000s commonly develop settling cracks, nail pops, and water stains from old roof or plumbing leaks. These issues are not just cosmetic. They signal movement or moisture that needs to be addressed before any fresh paint goes on. Our approach starts with proper assessment, then moves through a Level 4 or Level 5 finish standard with correct drying time between coats and dedicated priming before paint. No shortcuts, no painting over problems.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
DRYWALL INSTALLATION
We hang drywall for new construction, renovations, and basement finishing. Every sheet is fastened to the framing with the correct screw pattern. Too few fasteners and the board sags over time, too many and you create unnecessary dimples to fill. Seams are staggered so joints do not line up across adjacent sheets, which prevents cracking down the road.
Cut-outs for electrical outlets, switches, pot lights, and HVAC registers are measured and routed cleanly. Sloppy cut-outs mean gaps around cover plates that look unprofessional and let air leak between rooms.
In bathrooms, laundry rooms, and any space with elevated humidity, we use moisture-resistant drywall (green board or purple board depending on the application). Standard drywall absorbs moisture, swells, and eventually grows mould. Using the right board in the right location prevents that.
TAPING, MUDDING & SANDING
This is the phase that separates a professional result from a DIY one. We apply joint compound in multiple coats, typically three, with full drying time between each. Rushing this step causes shrinkage cracks, bubbling, and visible seam lines that show through paint.
Level 4 finish is our standard for most painted walls. All joints and fastener heads are taped, mudded, and sanded smooth. Under normal lighting with flat or eggshell paint, the surface looks uniform with no tool marks or ridges.
Level 5 finish adds a full skim coat of joint compound over the entire wall surface. This eliminates the slight texture difference between mudded joints and bare drywall paper. Level 5 is necessary when using glossy paint, dark colours, or in rooms where harsh side-lighting (raking light) would expose even minor surface variations. We recommend it for living rooms with large windows and any accent wall with a bold colour.
INTERIOR PAINTING
Painting is more than rolling colour onto a wall. Proper surface preparation, filling nail holes, sanding rough patches, cleaning dust, and priming, makes the difference between a finish that lasts years and one that peels within months. We prep every surface before a brush touches it.
We cut clean lines at ceiling edges, trim, and where wall colours meet. No tape bleed, no wobble. Consistent roller technique ensures even coverage without lap marks or uneven sheen. Two coats minimum on every surface, with the right roller nap for the texture.
We recommend finish types based on how the room is used:
- Flat / matte: ceilings and low-traffic rooms. Hides imperfections but marks easily.
- Eggshell: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways. Slight sheen, easy to clean, most popular for walls.
- Satin: kitchens and kids' rooms. More washable than eggshell.
- Semi-gloss: trim, baseboards, doors, and bathrooms. Durable, moisture resistant, easy to wipe down.
DRYWALL REPAIR
Holes from doorknobs, water damage from old leaks, cracked seams from foundation settling, and nail pops from seasonal expansion. These are all common in Brampton homes. Each type of damage requires a different repair approach.
Small holes get patched with mesh tape and compound. Larger holes need a backer board or a new piece of drywall cut to fit. Water-damaged areas are cut back to dry, sound material, and the source of the moisture is confirmed resolved before we patch. Cracked seams are re-taped with mesh or paper tape and mudded in layers to prevent the crack from returning.
After patching, we skim coat and texture-match the repair to the surrounding wall. The goal is an invisible repair. Once painted, you should not be able to tell where the damage was.
OUR PROCESS
- 1Assessment and estimate: we inspect the space, discuss the scope, and provide a detailed quote with no surprises.
- 2Surface preparation and protection: drop cloths on floors, plastic over furniture, taping off trim and fixtures.
- 3Drywall work: hanging new boards, taping joints, applying multiple coats of mud with drying time between each, and sanding to Level 4 or Level 5.
- 4Priming: PVA primer on new drywall, shellac-based primer over stains or repairs. Every surface gets primed before paint.
- 5Painting: two or more coats with the recommended finish for each surface. Clean lines, even coverage, no drips.
- 6Cleanup and walkthrough: we remove all protection materials, clean up dust and debris, and walk through the finished work with you.
COMMON PROJECTS IN BRAMPTON
POST-RENOVATION FINISHING
After a bathroom or basement renovation, the new framing and plumbing changes leave open stud bays and rough surfaces. We come in after the trades are done: hang drywall, tape, mud, sand, prime, and paint so the space is move-in ready. This is our most common drywall project and it is often bundled with the renovation itself.
WHOLE-HOUSE REPAINT
A Brampton home that has not been painted in 10 or more years typically needs more than just a fresh coat. Nail holes from picture hangers, scuffs, minor cracks, and yellowed trim all need attention first. We fill, sand, and prime every surface before painting. The result is walls that look new, not just freshly covered.
BASEMENT FINISHING
Raw framing in an unfinished basement needs full drywall: measured, cut, hung, taped, mudded, sanded, primed, and painted. We handle the entire scope from bare studs to finished walls. Moisture-resistant board goes around any plumbing or below-grade areas. The result is a usable living space, not a storage area.

PRODUCTS WE USE
Drywall types: Standard 1/2" drywall for most walls and ceilings. Moisture-resistant (green board) for bathrooms and laundry rooms. Fire-rated (Type X) where code requires it: garage ceilings, furnace rooms, and between attached garages and living spaces.
Joint compound: We use setting-type compound (hot mud) for the first coat on joints and corners because it dries hard and does not shrink. Topping compound (drying type) for the second and third coats because it sands smoother and feathers better.
Primers: PVA primer on new drywall. It seals the porous paper and compound so paint adheres evenly. Shellac-based primer (like Zinsser BIN) over water stains, smoke damage, or knots in trim wood. It blocks stain bleed that latex primer cannot stop.
Paint: We work with quality interior latex paints from brands like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams. We recommend their mid-range and premium lines for durability and coverage. Cheaper paints require more coats and wear faster. Finish type is matched to the room: flat for ceilings, eggshell or satin for walls, semi-gloss for trim and wet areas.
